The Zodiac Planets & You!

zodiac planets

The zodiac planets are basically power points within your astrological natal chart. The planets in astrology clearly show how their power is expressed in your life.

You can also think of the zodiac planets as being representative of the basic human drives that we all have such as the drive for financial security, the drive to love and be loved, or the drive to know and understand.

In addition, the houses in astrology show exactly what area of your life this planetary energy occurs in.

Before we begin, please note that in astrology the Sun and Moon are called “The Lights." Even though they are not technically planets, they are often referred to as such for simplicities sake. Thus, even though they are referred to as “planets”, please keep in mind that they are considered to be the 2 most powerful and significant.

Let’s take a look at each one of the zodiac planets.

SUN
A lot of people tend to think that their astrological sun sign (also known as your astrology birth sign) is all that there is to astrology. In truth, it is but 1/10th of the energy of your astrological natal chart. However, it is a hugely influential part because it defines who you are in the process of becoming. In many ways, you can think of it as the bull’s eye of your astrological natal chart. It is your solar core and is largely representative of your highest human potential. Hence, it symbolizes traits that you are learning to master and ultimately perfect as much as possible.

MOON
In your astrology chart, the Moon is symbolic of your emotional needs and how you can satisfy those needs. It is also representative of how you can most effectively recharge your batteries and regain a sense of balance. Lastly, it symbolizes the type(s) of activities and environments in which you feel most comfortable and reassuring.

MERCURY
The Mercury symbol in your astrological natal chart describes your style of communication and how you present your thoughts and ideas to others. It also represents your personal learning style. Thus, it shows learning methods and environments that you will most likely thrive in. Lastly, it shows your thought processes and types of things that are of the most interest to you.

VENUS
Out of all of the zodiac planets, the Venus symbol in your astrological natal chart most clearly describes your love nature. Thus, it represents your preferred method of expressing love and receiving love. It also is symbolic of the things in life that you truly value. In a man’s chart, it describes the type of feminine energy that he finds the most attractive in the opposite sex. In a woman’s chart, it describes how she instinctively expresses her femininity.

MARS
The Mars symbol is one of the two zodiac planets (the other one being Venus) that symbolizes our romantic/passionate nature. Therefore, romantically speaking, it shows our physical style of expressing our love/lust natures. Mars also defines our approach to our physical body. For instance, Mars in a fire sign likes to be physically active while Mars in an air sign would be more likely to ignore physical needs due to their preference to mental stimulation. Lastly, the Mars symbol in a woman’s chart shows the kind of masculine energy that she finds the most attractive in the opposite sex. In a man’s chart, it shows how he instinctually expresses his masculinity.

JUPITER
Out of all of the zodiac planets, the Jupiter symbol is the one that is most likely known as the planet of good luck. Hence, the astrology sign that Jupiter is in as well as the zodiac house that is located in describes how and where you tend to be the luckiest and have some sort of abundance. In addition, it describes natural talents and abilities that you just may be taking for granted. The Jupiter symbol tends to magnify (or double) the traits of the astrology sign it is in. Hence, you can go far in life by wisely utilizing these traits to your advantage. Jupiter is also the sign of indulgence and excesses so make sure that you do your best to utilize the higher path of the astrology sign it is in instead of the lower path.

SATURN
The Saturn symbol is the wise elder of the zodiac planets. Unfortunately, in ancient astrology, it was widely feared and had a very negative reputation. In truth, Saturn simply wants you to be realistic and practical. Hence, it symbolizes areas in your life where you must be more responsible and exert more effort and discipline in your life. Conversely, it also shows that this same area of your astrological natal chart may be where you feel the greatest fear of failure. Hence, this area feels difficult and very much like work to you. The key is to overcome your fears because what is a weakness now could ultimately be a huge strength for you in the future if you apply yourself.

URANUS
The Uranus symbol is known as the “Great Awakener” of the zodiac planets. It symbolizes areas in your life where you must be open-minded to changing your pre-established ideas and notions of how things “should” operate. Ultimately, the Uranus symbol shows you where you may have very fresh and original ideas that you could use to your advantage. In fact, it may just show where your own particular brand of genius lies.

NEPTUNE
The Neptune symbol is the “Mystic” of the zodiac planets. At its absolute lowest path of expression, it shows where you may shoot yourself in the foot and how you may deceive yourself. In fact, it may also show how you are in denial of the truth in the area that it is located in. At its highest path of expression, the Neptune symbol represents unconditional love not only for others, but for yourself as well. It symbolizes your deepest spiritual nature and specifically how you can directly grow spiritually by overcoming the challenges in the zodiac house where it resides.

PLUTO
Out of all of the zodiac planets, the Pluto symbol is probably the most misunderstood and feared (along with the Saturn symbol). Due to the incredible intensity of this planet and its seemingly ruthless methods, it’s not hard to understand why! Pluto’s main objective, however, is transforming you into a more powerfully integrated human being. It does so by not beating around the bush and confronting you with intense circumstances and emotions that you must face.

Hence, it has a sink or swim approach that (although it can be quite frightening and painful) is immensely effective. Therefore, the location of the Pluto symbol in your astrological natal chart shows where you will be severely tested in your life. The ultimate goal for Pluto is basically proving to yourself that you are much braver and stronger than you give yourself credit for being. Its lessons are quite often intense and dramatic. If you, however, courageously face the challenges of the zodiac house where Pluto is located, you will find that you are harnessing this powerful Plutonian energy directly for your highest good and finding your own true source of internal power.
